Quarterly Newsletter

Some of you may have noticed that we didn't send any newsletters out the last couple of months.  We have
been so busy that there just doesn't seem to be any time to sit down and write, so Ken and I decided that it
would probably be better if we turned it into a quarterly newsletter.  This means that the newsletter may be
a little longer but we hope just as informative and fun to read.

As many of you know Ken and I went to Hawaii with our kids last April.  It was a great time, we especially
realized how great it was once we drove home in the pouring rain and a few days later it was snowing....in
the middle of April!!!  We miss Hawaii....it is a good thing I love my job!
On to more important things.....

You may have noticed a large shipping container parked in our driveway...not to worry, we are not packing
up and leaving, although our neighbors probably would like to see that.  No, we have decided to get a bit
more organized and expand our puppy spa area into the rest of the garage.  Ken is going to prepare the
garage so the puppies have a larger play area on rainy days.  As you all know how much dogs love to be
out in the rain!

We have been so busy at upscale puppy the last few months, what with Dixie's Hawaiian themed birthday
party (see our website at upscalepuppy.com for more photos of how much fun everyone had.), getting a
new groomer to come to the house, all of the new puppies that have joined us and  getting a large storage
container delivered, painted and organized.  Everyone has had nice comments on how Ken painted it.

Our new groomer is a showdog groomer who gives baths, clips with scissors and not clippers, does nails.
Blueberry facials, hair stripping, de-shedding and expresses anal glands.  One stop shop! Everyone loves
her and she has done such a good job so far.... Let us know if you are interested in giving Ivy a try!

Our Featured Puppy

Our featured pet for this newsletter is actually a trio of Shitzu's ...Brandy, Morgan and Tisha.  They have
been coming to Upscale puppy for about six years. Ave been coming so long you may have noticed their
names on our saloon dog house.  They were generous enough to donate the exterior wood for the house.
We call Brandy the "old man" because he is getting up there in age but has always acted like an old
man...allow me to emphasize "man"...for years Brandy has been the verbal one, always wanting to tell you
something and if you didn't listen....didn't matter...still going to talk...just like an old man. We will miss him
when he goes to Doggie heaven....hopefully not for a long time...
Morgan and Tisha are the Brown Shitzu's.  Morgan is a stocky puff ball of fur that is so much fun to rub and
pet...Tisha, on the other hand, is a spitball of energy, picking on poor Morgan whenever she can,she is
also learning Brandys mode of talk...
Morgan secretly has a crush on Molly though, I think Tisha may be a little jealous.  We wish they would
come to daycare more often as they are a pleasure to have in the pack and the other dogs enjoy their
playfulness.
If you look at our western dog house you will see their names on one of the buildings.

We are also adding another special pet for
this issue of our newsletter...Cesar...
Cesar took the path to doggie heaven at the
end of May.  He was a fun little yorkie who
came to daycare with his brothers Dolce and
Gus.  Full of attitude till the very end.  He will
be missed but we will remember him as he left
a little imprint on our hearts with his little paw. Cesar is now resting in our new pet cemetery
.

FYI
We would like to remind everyone know that we offer many special services in our puppy spa such as
doggie massages, intense brushing, grooming and baths.  I give the massages, brushing and some
baths.  Sandra helps with these as well but our new groomer Ivy does the grooming of your pooches.
All arrangements can be made with me but how your puppy is groomed needs to be relayed directly to Ivy
when possible. We can tell her how you would like your pooch cut or trimmed, but they may not always end
up how you like.  It is unfortunate but we have no control over this.  It is very rare that it happens because
she is such a good groomer and the dogs love her, but just like everything else in life, sometimes we just
end up with a bad haircut.  Ivy has done a great job so far but not everyone can be satisfied, we just try our
best to please.
Again, this is a special convenient service we offer you, Upscale Puppy makes no money on grooming
service. It is a nice convenient service but please remember that we are just the middleman and we
cannot control how things turn out, so if there is ever a problem with the grooming, tell the groomer!

Well, summer looks like it may actually have arrived.....be sure to take all the precautions necessary to
protect your companion.
It is no longer safe to leave them in the car... It only takes 15 minutes to cause harm and possibly death.
You also need to be sure they have plenty of water...kidneys can shut down if they don't get enough.
It is also extremely important to have flea and tick control on your pets.  It has already been a bad season
for fleas.  I just killed one on my leg a few days ago (thankfully not at our house).  All of my dogs are on
revolution, be sure to have yours on some kind of treatment...if we ever got fleas at upscale puppy we
would have to shut down and that would make a lot of people angry!
With the flea control you also need to be sure they are current on all of their vaccinations.  It was a wet
winter...lots of bad things out there and we need to protect them from all of the nasties out there.

A call for help......
Due to the economy, there have been a number of doggie daycares spring up in the area.  Unfortunately
they have little experience with numerous dogs... I have heard first hand of dogs that have escaped their
boarding facility....and...some do cats and big dogs in the same place!
Anyway, I am trying to become more visible to the community because I feel so bad that some of these
dogs are being exposed to such dangerous environments.  Therefore I am asking my clients that are
computer savvy to get online and let people know that there is a better place to take their small dog.  I
have registered at Yelp, Facebook and I am trying to figure out Twitter.  If you are able to make comments
or give me a grade on yelp I would appreciate it.  I just hate to think of all of the puppies our there that are
stuck in crates or crappy places just because someone doesn't know how to find us at upscale puppy.

Well, I hope this newsletter wasn't too long and didn't bore anyone.
As always, if you have any comments or suggestions, please let me or Ken know.
Have a great summer!  Your puppies are going to have a great time when they get here!  The pools are
out, the bubble machine is loaded and there will soon be a special sprinkler to help keep them cool and
entertained on the hotter days.

See you soon!
